Pearltrees

Created in Paris two years ago, Pearltrees was an underground hit with a small community of passionate users collecting little bits of the internet and store in a tree format

"But i have never heard of Pearltrees, what is it?" and "Why are you telling me this now?" you might say and i will explain why this site is only just coming into the public domain

Pearltrees in it's own words is 'A place to organize, discover and share everything you like on the web'. It's a free service that allows it's users to organize and share what they love in internet . It following the logic of content curation, which means bringing out the best content from the web. This search engine community based on the idea that the proliferation of various types of content ( blogs, youtube videos, tweets etc..) creates a new organization of Internet

The site is based on user-friendliness and it's own quirky design which reminds me of a mind map (or what you hoped your mind map would look like) and also it can be connected to Facebook and Twitter so your friends can keep up to date with your recent findings...

According to Patrice Lamothe (One of the founders), "The typical user of [Pearltrees] is very surprising one third of users are geeks, a third of bloggers and "social media people", and one third are young people under 30 years old and absolutely not at all geeky, with a majority of women. Some women use to plan their shopping Pearltrees collaboratively: they build a tree of places to visit and send it to each other with the option to share/send, and each participant adds its pearls"

Now, i'm not surprised that two thirds of the user base are 'geeks and blogger' as i now have a Pearltrees account and i am a blogger and see myself as a bit of a geek, but the last third in which women under 30 are the majority... Now, that's a bit more surprising

Yesterday marked a huge milestone for Pearltrees'... It launched it's iPad app, which i think is the smartest move that the company could have made.

I believe that it's new app will be the way that the company accesses the mass market and how it will grown into something well-known by the public

Right, i think it is about time for you to give this site a go... Pearltrees

I'm a geek and blogger and I find Pearltree too complex and not user friendly. I really wanted to like it, and I tried, but it's pretty terrible.

As i'm a geek and blogger also, i think that Pearltrees is simply enough after a bit of messing around with it and can see the appealing once you view it on a iPad

Thanks for your comments, Zach
